African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA)
The African Leaders Malaria Alliance was founded in September 2009 by African
Heads of State and Government to utilize their individual and collective power
across country and regional borders-in the flight against malaria. The alliance is
comprised of 44 African Heads of State and the Africa union working together to end malaria-related deaths on the continent.
His Excellency President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania was
Founding Chair of ALMA from 2009 to 2011. ALMA is currently chaired by Her President
Ellen JOhnson Sirleaf of Republic of Liberia with His Excellency Armando Guebuza of the Republic of Mozambique as the vice-chair.
